An Amazon listing that gets traffic and no sales: the rewrite checklist
Sessions without orders is a specific problem with a short list of causes. Most of them are not the copy. Rule those out first, then rewrite the parts of the page that actually lose the buyer.
When an Amazon listing gets sessions but no orders, check four things before rewriting: whether your offer holds the Featured Offer, your price against other sellers, your delivery promise, and your rating. If those are sound, rewrite in order: main image, first 80 characters of the title, bullets, then the rest.
- Confirm the problem in Business Reports first: Sessions and Unit Session Percentage for the child ASIN, not a guess.
- Rule out the non-copy causes: lost Featured Offer, price, a slow delivery promise, or a weak rating.
- Rewrite in the order the buyer reads: main image, the start of the title, then the bullets.
- Use your own evidence for the new copy: return reasons, buyer questions and the search term report.
- Change one thing at a time and read the report after two full weeks, or you will not know what worked.
A listing that nobody visits has a search problem. A listing that people visit and leave has a page problem, and that is the one a rewrite can fix. But a rewrite is the slowest and least certain fix available, so it comes after the checks that take five minutes and explain most cases.
Step 1: confirm it is a conversion problem
Open Reports, then Business Reports, then Detail Page Sales and Traffic by Child Item. Find the ASIN and set a date range of at least four weeks. The columns that matter are Sessions, Units Ordered and Unit Session Percentage, which is units ordered divided by sessions.
Compare the ASIN against your own other listings in the same category, not against a number from a blog. There is no published Amazon benchmark for a good conversion rate in India, and a figure quoted without a category and a price band means nothing.
If sessions are in single digits, you do not yet have a conversion problem, you have too few visits to tell. Fix discovery first: the title, the backend search terms and the category.
Step 2: rule out the causes that are not the copy
The Featured Offer. The same report carries a Featured Offer percentage column. If another seller on the ASIN holds the Featured Offer most of the time, buyers are visiting your page and buying from them. That is a pricing or fulfilment problem, and no rewrite will touch it.
Price. Search the product the way a buyer would and look at the results page, not just your own ASIN. A buyer compares across listings before clicking, and a page that sits well above similar products in the same results loses the sale however good the copy is.
Delivery promise. Open your listing logged out, with a pincode you sell into. If the promised date is several days later than the listings around you, that alone can explain the gap. Handling time and fulfilment method set it, not the copy.
Rating and reviews. A low star rating or a recent run of one-star reviews about one defect stops buyers at the top of the page. Read the reviews: if they name a product fault, fix the product or the expectation, not the adjectives.
Step 3: rewrite the main image first
On a phone the main image is most of what the buyer sees before tapping, and it also decides whether the click happens at all. Check it against the main image rules: pure white background, product only, filling the frame, no text or badges.
Then look at your secondary images as a set. They should answer, in order, what it is, how big it is, what it is made of, how it is used, and what comes in the box. A size image with a hand or a common object for scale settles a question that otherwise becomes a return.
Step 4: the title and the bullets
Amazon allows up to 200 characters for a title, but a phone shows only the beginning. Put the product type and the one attribute buyers filter on first, such as material or size, in the opening words. A brand name nobody searches for yet does not need to lead.
Rewrite the bullets as answers to the objections buyers actually raise. Your evidence is in three places: the return reasons in Manage Returns, the questions buyers post on the listing, and the queries in your search term report. A bullet that answers why a buyer returned the last ten units is worth more than one that says premium quality.
Put numbers where buyers need numbers: dimensions in centimetres, weight, capacity in millilitres, fabric composition, what size fits which body measurement. Vague copy forces a buyer to guess, and a guessing buyer either leaves or returns.
Step 5: the rest of the page
If you are brand registered, A+ Content replaces the plain description with images and comparison tables. It is the place for the comparison chart across your own range, which keeps a buyer inside your catalogue rather than sending them back to search.
If you are not brand registered, the description still carries the detail the bullets could not: care instructions, compatibility, what is and is not included.
Size charts on apparel and footwear deserve their own check. A wrong or missing size chart drives both lost sales and size returns, and it is one of the few fixes that helps conversion and return rate at once.
Reading the listing the way the report does
Sessions in, orders out, and where the page loses the buyer
Step 6: measure the change properly
Change one element at a time and write down the date. If you change the image, the title and the price in one week and orders rise, you do not know which one did it, and you cannot repeat it on the next listing.
Wait two full weeks before reading the result, so both periods include the same days of the week. Compare Unit Session Percentage for the same number of days before and after. If sessions moved a lot at the same time, for example during a sale event, the comparison is not clean, so wait for a normal period.
Keep a short log per ASIN: date, what changed, sessions and conversion before, and after. After a few listings it becomes your own playbook for the category, which is better than any general checklist, including this one.
The part of this Robnu does for you
Robnu reads your Amazon account and reconciles every settlement line back to the order that caused it, so a wrong deduction is visible the day it lands.
- Orders, returns, payouts and inventory synced
- Every settlement line matched to its order
- FBA units Amazon has not made good, listed
Where this sits in the rest of your Amazon operation
On Amazon, Robnu syncs your orders, returns, payouts and inventory, reconciles every settlement line back to the order that caused it, lists the FBA units Amazon's own ledger has not made good, flags a return that never came back before the SAFE-T window closes, and scans returns in at your dock. It reads your Amazon account rather than writing to it, so accepting orders and making labels run on AJIO and Meesho today. Related reading:

Questions sellers ask
Check the causes outside the copy first: whether another seller holds the Featured Offer, your price against similar listings, your delivery promise and your rating. If those are sound, the page is losing the buyer, so rewrite the main image, the start of the title and the bullets.
In Business Reports, in Detail Page Sales and Traffic by Child Item. The column is Unit Session Percentage, which is units ordered divided by sessions for the period you choose.
Amazon publishes no benchmark for India, and figures quoted online rarely say which category or price band they mean. Compare a listing against your own similar listings instead.
Two full weeks is a sensible minimum, so both periods cover the same days of the week. Change one element at a time, or you will not know which change made the difference.
Only after checking. If your price is in line with similar listings on the results page and you hold the Featured Offer, a price cut gives away margin without fixing the page. Look at the image, title and bullets first.
Irrelevant traffic can. Sessions from searches that do not match the product lower your conversion rate. Remove unrelated words from the title and backend search terms.
