Long-form on silent revenue loss, marketplace ops, manifest closure, the 11-tabs problem, and the rest of the messy work of selling on Indian marketplaces. Written by people who've actually closed a manifest at 11:58 PM.
A single bank credit covering 300 orders can hide a hundred small errors indefinitely. This is the complete reconciliation method for AJIO and Meesho sellers, the three-way match, aging buckets, and how to turn unexplained gaps into filed disputes.
Most Ajio sellers leak 5 to 10% of gross to deductions they never dispute. Here's how the leak actually works, the four vectors, and what Robnu can plug today vs. what stays an honest accept-loss.
India's DPDP Act is now the framework for how you handle buyer personal data. The headlines made it sound scarier than it is. Here is the practical version, the five duties, what does not apply yet, and what Robnu handles versus what you still own.
Most early-stage Indian sellers run their entire ops in Excel for the first year or more. It works, until it does not. Here is how to tell when a spreadsheet stops being enough, by daily order volume, and the honest math for the 5 to 25 zone.
Every shipment that leaves your facility has four documents tied to it, and a mismatch between any two is a silent revenue leak. This post covers the four artifacts, the three ways they drift, and how the stage-9 document pipeline reconciles them before the manifest closes.
An OMS is a system of record for orders, inventory, procurement, and finance. Most early-to-mid-stage sellers do not need that yet, they need a marketplace-specific operating layer. Here is how to tell which side of the line you are on.
The SLA watchdog is one of the highest-impact features Robnu ships, and one of the simplest. This post covers the headroom formula, the escalation thresholds, why we picked 30% and 10%, and the underrated part: it reframes the wait-one-more-shipment decision so you make it deliberately.
Closure policy is the call you make per batch: when do you actually press the close-manifest button? Robnu offers three modes, each with a different operating shape, this post maps when each one wins, when it loses, and the defaults to start from.
Robnu acts on your behalf with marketplaces, so it treats your tokens the way a payments processor treats card data. This post walks through what the vault stores, the per-seller key model, and why a database leak on its own is a bag of unreadable blobs.
The audience that needs Robnu most is the one that can least afford to pay for it, so they don't. Every feature is free for everyone right now, and when paid pricing eventually lands, sellers under 25 orders a day stay free forever. This is the reasoning, in plain words.
Ajio's seller flow is mature, opinionated and full of small rules that aren't in the docs. After running it end-to-end daily for months, here is the 11-stage flow decoded, the all-or-nothing batch rule, and why the vendor invoice, not the shipment, drives your settlement.
The midnight-manifest pattern is rational locally and irrational globally: you save one deduction today and lose three across the month. One Ajio seller moved their median closure from 23:42 to 17:38 in a week, not by working harder, but by being told at 17:00 instead of 23:50.
We sat with three Ajio sellers and counted the tabs: 9 to 13, median 11, plus an Excel file. The cost is not the tabs, it is the slips that never print because the queue was on the wrong tab. Robnu collapses the operating layer into one place.
Order count and gross revenue are applause, not information. Here are the twelve ecommerce seller KPIs that actually run a marketplace business, each with the why, the formula, and an honest healthy band, plus the 20-minute weekly review that uses them.
Everything between a Meesho order landing and the payout clearing, in one walkthrough: the daily loop, the documents, the returns fork, the payment cycle, and which parts a 2-person team should stop doing by hand in 2026.
Nobody wakes up deciding they need an OMS; the business decides first and informs you through symptoms. Ten of them, each with the rupee-and-hours cost and the fix, and the two signs that mean you should act this week.
Rule-based automation executes steps and stops at the first surprise. An agentic OMS owns an outcome, orders processed, documents filed, exceptions escalated, and works through the surprises. The difference shows up at 9 PM when a marketplace panel changes.
A return is usually an expectation gap, and the expectation was set by your listing. Here is the size-chart craft, photo truth, and defect disclosure that quietly cut return rates, plus the 20-minute listing audit to run this week.
Adding a second marketplace should add revenue, not a second job. Here is the honest readiness test, the catalog-mapping method, and the unified-ops setup that keeps AJIO plus Meesho runnable by the same two people.
Every AJIO vs Meesho seller debate ends the same way: it depends on your product and your price point. Here is the comparison that actually helps, economics, returns reality, and operational differences side by side, plus the case for running both with one OMS.
Most small marketplace sellers are still photo-only, which makes product video the cheapest visible advantage left. Here is what video does for a listing, what converts versus what just looks nice, and the credit-based workflow that makes reels from your catalog.
Your photo is your shopfront, your salesperson, and, when it overpromises, your return rate. Here are the marketplace image rules decoded, the shot list that converts, and how the AI packshot workflow gets a full set from one phone photo.
Most ecommerce seller tools lists are written by people selling tools. Here is the minimal stack that actually runs an AJIO + Meesho business at 5 to 25 orders/day, four layers, mostly free, and the long list of software you should not buy yet.
Every seller knows the 8 AM ritual: two panels, dozens of clicks, a downloads folder full of PDFs. Scheduled order processing replaces the whole thing with a run that finishes before you wake up, and an email that tells you what happened.
Running a one person ecommerce business means you are the packer, the accountant, and the claims department. Here is the honest hour budget, the automate-first matrix, and a weekly rhythm that holds at 5 to 25 orders/day.
Sale events don't break sellers on sale day, they break them at T+2, when 300 unprocessed orders meet one exhausted packer, and again at T+14 when the returns wave lands. The full festival sale seller checklist, from T-7 prep to the T+7 money audit.
A label is a contract between your parcel and the marketplace's machines, and most label failures surface weeks later as deductions nobody connects back to the label. The seven shipping label mistakes we keep finding in real seller workflows, each with its cost and its fix.
SLA penalties are the one deduction category where evidence doesn't help you: the timestamp is the verdict. This guide maps the breach types on AJIO and Meesho, why they cluster on predictable days, and the prevention rituals, plus a watchdog, that make them a non-event.
Most sellers don't need more hours, they need fewer ritual ones. A practical map for how to automate order processing end to end: where rules get you, where they break, and what an agentic OMS does differently when an order misbehaves at 7am.
A valid claim filed on day 9 of a 7-day window is worth exactly zero. This cheat sheet maps the marketplace claim window for each claim type, wrong return, damaged, missing, payment short, and the calendar discipline that stops deadlines from eating your recoveries.
The sticker price is not your revenue, and the settlement line is not your profit. A working method for per-order profit calculation on AJIO and Meesho, the full cost stack, the hero-SKU illusion, and a per-SKU audit you can run this week.
Sale season is when sellers do their best revenue and feel their poorest. Inventory cash leaves weeks before settlements come back, and the returns wave lands after the payout high. Here is the lag math, the buffer formula, and the plan.
Every seller wants one number: 'is my return rate normal?' The honest answer is a set of bands, not a number, and most sellers can't even compare against them because they measure the rate wrong. Here are the bands, the COD effect, and the formula.
Most sellers never audit their deductions because it sounds like a finance project. It is actually a 30-minute monthly ritual: pull four documents, run five comparisons, and sort what you find into dispute-or-accept. Here is the exact checklist.
A returned AJIO order doesn't cost you one fee, it costs you a stack of them, spread across settlement lines that never appear side by side. Here is the full cost anatomy of a return, the monthly leak it adds up to, and which slices you can actually get back.
Three tax lines ride on every marketplace settlement, income-tax TDS under 194-O, GST TCS, and GST charged on fees. None of them is money lost, but all of them become money lost if you never claim them. The decode, plus the monthly reclaim ritual.
A wrong item comes back, the refund already left your payout, and the supplier panel is waiting for you to do something about it. Here is the full Meesho return claim playbook, categories, windows, evidence, and what to do when the first answer is no.
Somewhere between the buyer's door and your table, your ₹899 kurta became a torn old t-shirt. Return fraud has a taxonomy, claims have an evidence standard, and a scan-to-record video habit is the difference between eating the loss and getting paid.
The AJIO settlement statement is where your real margin gets decided, commission, logistics, GST on fees, penalties, tax lines, return reversals. This guide decodes every column and lists the six errors worth checking for every single cycle.
Two parcels come back the same afternoon. One never reached the buyer; one was delivered, worn once, and sent back. They look identical on your table, and completely different on your settlement. Here is the split that decides your margin.
Meesho credits your bank roughly a week after delivery, but the amount almost never matches the panel's sale figure. Here's how the payment cycle actually runs, what gets deducted on the way, and how to read the payment advice line by line.
Every RTO costs you twice: the shipping fee and the days your stock sits in transit limbo. Here are nine fixes, address quality, COD confirmation, pin-code patterns, dispatch speed, and listing truth, ranked by how much RTO they actually remove.
